Most underrated secret to success?
We want to give a big thank you to Marie Forleo ……she really got our attention recently on her show, MarieTV. She spoke about what she felt was the most underrated secret to success in business. The more she talked about it the more we were raising a hand saying “AMEN sister!” to each point she gave.
What’s with the attitude??
For over 20 years we have been entrepreneurs and tend to hang around fellow entrepreneurs. We network, share ideas, and are there for each other through the struggles and the celebrations. We watch fellow entrepreneurs grow their businesses and have seen others struggle tremendously.
“Behavior alone is not enough….energy, soul, spirit – they all matter!” Marie Forleo
Many times we have observed another business have an amazing product, and do well but only to a certain level. When you began to look at what could be holding the business back, many times it was the attitude of the business owner. They were their own stumbling block in growing their business and taking it to the next level. Question: How is your attitude?
“The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.” Jim Carrey
While listening to Marie talk and feverishly writing down several of the points she was stating we decided that these points needed to be shared with those we coach in business. We want to take the opportunity to share these with all of you as well. These points are true and invaluable.
- Your attitude is contagious…..whether is it good or bad.
- This moment makes your future moments. How you do what you do has a direct result on how others respond to you. Question: Are you ‘wowing’ people??
- You can make a difference in the world no matter what you do for a living. Don’t think for a moment that you have no impact on those around you!
“Your energy is contagious, so think about what you want people to catch from you.”
So Marie asked this question and I want to ask you as well:
What might shift if you focused on HOW you do something?
This can be tough because you have to be honest with how you look at yourself and your business. Here are a few things to think about:
- Do you complain frequently?
- How do you speak to your employees or customers?
- Do you often catch yourself being negative?
- Do you have negative inner self-talk?
- Are you arrogant?
You may think you do not have any of these but I challenge you to take the time to self-reflect. Ask someone that you know will be straight-up honest with you. **Be ready for the truth and know it may step on your toes**. How you accept the truth will also be an indicator of you being a key issue within the struggles of your business.
These kinds of posts are often difficult to read and honestly, for me, hard to write. I have to reflect as well and improve, so do not feel alone. Our challenge for today is seek out the issues and then work on them each and everyday.
Don’t allow the underrated secret of YOU and your attitude hold you or your business back any longer!
Until next week, keep blazing your trail to success!
